Black Mountain is a Canadian psychedelic rock-band composed of Stephen McBean, Amber Webber, Matt Camirand, Jeremy Schmidt and Joshua Wells. In 2007, Black Mountain were featured on the soundtrack for the box-office hit movie Spider-Man 3, with their song "Stay Free". The album "In the Future" was a finalist for the 2008 Polaris Music Prize and was also nominated for 'Best Alternative Album' in the 2009 Juno Awards. Their new album "Wilderness Heart". is to be released in September 2010.

Black Mountain - Singles

Black Mountain is well known for their super hit songs. A split single with Destroyer was released in Fall 2004 on Spirit of Orr. The "Stormy High" single was released in 2006 on Suicide Squeeze records. A vinyl single was released in April 2007 named "Surrender Sound Session: Unkle vs. Autolux/Black Mountain" with a remix of "No Hits" on the B side. Black Mountain - Album "In the Future"

Introduction:

Black Mountain's second album "In the Future" was released in January 21, 2008. It follows their eponymous debut album which was released in 2005. A "limited edition" of the album was released on the same day with 3 bonus tracks on a second disc. The album art was designed by keyboardist Jeremy Schmidt, who was influenced by Storm Thorgerson's work.

Achievements:

The album was a nominee for the 2008 Polaris Music Prize and was also nominated for 'Best Alternative Album' in the 2009 Juno Awards. It debuted on the UK Album Chart at No: 72. Franz Nicolay, of The Hold Steady, listed the album as one of his favourite releases in 2008.

Black mountain - Band Members along with associated acts

Black mountain consists of five members as: Stephen McBean, Amber Webber, Matt Camirand, Jeremy Schmidt and Joshua Wells. Leader Stephen McBean also heads another similarly named band, Pink Mountaintops, who are the more experimental side of McBean's musical abilities. By day, three members of the band work for an organization that meets the basic living requirements of the chronically poor, drug addicted and mentally ill near Vancouver's Main & Hastings intersection, in the Downtown Eastside neighbourhood. In an interview, the band said: "After work we all try not to think too hard about the effect it has on our lives. It keeps us grounded." Matt Camirand and Joshua Wells are also in band Blood Meridian: Matt Camirand as singer, songwriter, and guitarist and Joshua Wells on drums.
